As a graduate student at Cornell, he majored in immunology, with minors in biochemistry and science education. His research interests include mechanisms of complement mediated killing of Gram-negative bacteria by the membrane attack complex (MAC) of the complement system. Currently, he is in collaboration with Dr. Louis Massa of the Hunter College Chemistry Department of The City University of New York in the applications of quantum crystallography in the design of drugs to prevent insulin degradation in type II diabetes.
